Action of Ipakitine

Managing a cat or a dog with CRF with Ipakitine

Ipakitine is nutraceutical supplement composed of Chitosan and Calcium Carbonate. The ingredients in Ipakitine act as phosphate binding agents and lower the absorption of phosphates from the intestines. Thus, in respect of a phosphate restriction, they can mimic or enhance the effects of a phosphate restricted food. There is also a reduction in the absorption of some uraemic toxins that can affect normal kidney function.
Through this double action, Ipakitine supports normal kidney function.

Action of Ipakitine

Lowering the amount of phosphates in your pet’s food

Numerous studies have shown the benefits of phosphates reduction in dogs and cats suffering from kidney failure and it is now widely accepted that there is a direct link between the length and quality of life of a cat or dog with CRF and the amount of phosphates they get through their food.

According to some studies, cats that have low phosphates in their food live almost 2.5 times longer than cats that are fed with normal diets.

Binding uraemic toxins

It has been demonstrated that Ipakitine can reduce the levels of urea in cats blood. In vitro studies have also shown its ability to bind indole and indoxyl sulfate
